Monroe and Moroccan Cannon

Monroe and Moroccan Cannon are perhaps the most famous twins on the Internet! The two-year olds’ parents, legendary singer Mariah Carey and the multi-talented actor and rapper Nick Cannon, maintain a vast collection of family photos on their DemBabies website, and have even coined a Twitter hashtag, #dembabies, dedicated to their children.

The site serves as a window into the daily life of the adorable brother-sister duo. From their jet-setting holidays and Easter and Halloween celebrations to lounging around in bed, mummy and daddy never pass up a moment to document their familial bliss.

Family fun

These fraternal twins, who go by the playful nicknames Roc and Roe, were born on April 30, 2011 on the couple’s third wedding anniversary. That means double the reason to celebrate!

This year, the celebrity family shut down Disneyland in California for a fairytale ceremony at the iconic Magic Kingdom Castle. Mum arrived in a horse-drawn pumpkin-shaped carriage, and with the twins dressed accordingly as a prince and princess, 43-year-old Mariah and 33-year-old Nick renewed their vows.

Fans followed the magic on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and the website. “Celebrating our anniversary @ #dembabies birthday (can you believe they’re 2??),” Mariah tweeted on the day.

Proactive parents

Despite the fame that brown-eyed Monroe and Moroccan enjoy on and offline, the pair is raised with a strict sense of etiquette and humility thanks to Mariah and Nick’s proactive parenting. The twins are now in their terrible twos, so it’s more important than ever!

Nick, who calls himself a “stern father”, recently explained to People magazine: “My kids — it’s a blessing — they’re extremely disciplined…They try [misbehaving] with other people because everyone gives them so much attention, but when it comes to my wife and I, we only have to say something once.”

He continued: “We ask them to have a seat, they sit down, cross their legs and put their hands in their lap. I hope it lasts!”

Good thing, too. Little Monroe is said to take after diva mum, never hesitating to cry to get what she wants. Moroccan, however, takes more after easy-going dad.

What the twins do have in common is a love of music, according to their parents. Monroe, who is named after mum’s idol Marilyn Monroe, and Moroccan, who is named after the Moroccan-themed room in Mariah’s New York City apartment in which Nick proposed, reportedly dance whenever music is played, showing off their natural rhythm.

Since the twins are still learning to talk, it’s too early to tell if they have also inherited mum’s booming singing voice or dad’s ability to rap. But with parents as active on social media as Mariah and Nick, posting photos and videos of their little ones at every turn, we’ll all be sure to know if they do!
